Confused Twitter users point out image used in @Canada tweet not a photo of Toronto

TORONTO – It seems one of the Canadian government’s official twitter accounts might be confused about what the country’s largest city looks like.
The @Canada Twitter account tweeted Monday that Toronto had been recognized as a city showcasing sustainable building. The twitter account attached a photo of a large tower in a dense city – but not the CN Tower, it was the TV Tower in Berlin, Germany.

The tweet did include a link to an article on the World Economic Forum website detailing international cities with sustainable building; a list which included Berlin and Toronto.
The tweet appears to be a modified tweet sent from the World Economic Forum twitter account which used the same image but didn’t mention Toronto.

But that didn’t stop Twitter users from pointing out their confusion.

As of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the tweet was still up with no clarification.
Global News has reached out to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Development which runs the Twitter account but has not received a response.
